The Via Francigena, which crosses no less than four countries and stretches over 3200 kilometres to link England to Rome, is an incredibly valuable route and its stages are of extraordinary beauty. We have chosen stage 24, which runs from Pontremoli to Sarzana and along the Lunense Canal to an important historical and archaeological site, the ruins of the Castello della Brina. Returning to our starting point, we will stop at the Caneva Gardens, where a wonderful party will welcome us… we will be greeted by a gastronomic stand with typical Mexican cuisine and world-famous musicians from the world of Mexican music, who have been specially selected for this party, which will end with a visit to the magnificent and splendid gardens.

The programme

Departure from Beghini car park, near the football pitch at 9.45 am.

Departure from the car park at the Beghini football ground at 9.45 a.m. The itinerary begins with a walk on the plain along the Lunense Canal, flanking one of the most beautiful engineering works in the area to make the land cultivable.

Then, with a difference in altitude of about 300 metres, we reach the ruins of Castello della Brina, an archaeological site along the Via Francigena.

We will retrace our steps to reach the wonderful Caneva Gardens, where we will be welcomed by a magical atmosphere with incredible musicians from Mexico, called for the approaching Dia de la Muerte

It will be possible to eat good food, a la carte, from the Mexican restaurant set up on the spot.

At 3.30 p.m. there will be a guided tour of the Caneva Gardens with its creator.

Approximate end of the day around 4.30pm
